YOU ARE LIKELY DEHYDRATED RIGHT NOW
STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING & DRINK SOME WATER.

Name redacted because I don’t want to shit on the guy, merely using this as a teaching experience:
Look at this tweet.
Imagine that you are his perfect demographic… by reading the above message, how compelled do you feel to let him grill you with a game of 20 questions?
Probably not even slightly interested.
Always always always start with empathy in mind.
It is necessary, that whenever we want somebody to do something, we begin with empathy
BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE:
Put yourself in their shoes.
Imagine what they’re thinking, what their desires are… and how much your message aligns with that.
In this case?
If you’re the target here…
You probably don’t want to spend all day discussing the ins and outs of your business to a stranger on the internet. That’s the basic context here.
So, what is this guy trying to offer you, such that you will part with knowledge of how your business runs?
He offers “A gift” - unspecified, vague, not enticing whatsoever… it fills me with skepticism at best, and complete and utter disinterest at worst.
The “just wanna ask you some questions :)” is horrible, but the “:)” is especially bad.
What are you smiling for?
What kind of questions are you going to be asking me?
You’re asking ME, to stop what I’m doing and DM YOU, so that I can be grilled with questions (which I have no idea what they will be) … all for a fucking “GIFT”???
0/10.
Here’s how I would do it:
“This is insane. I’m currently putting some finishing touches on something that will allow business owners who are making over $5k/m online…
to DOUBLE their revenue in the next 6 months…
If this is you, please dm me, I want to ask some basic questions in exchange for a FREE gift.”
I guarantee you my message would get 100x the results of the original one.
Be better guys. Lead with empathy first.
