Building up bilateral ties even more, as Russia and Oman sign agreement on waiving visa requirements for both countries
🔍 Easter truce exposed ZELENSKY’S USELESSNESS

"We saw Zelensky's statement that 'we need to offer more to maintain the ceasefire'... But it turned out that some units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not obey him at all, and they were striking Russian cities and Russian civilians in Donbass," Yevgeny Mikhailov, head of the Center for Strategic Studies of the South Caucasus, tells Sputnik.

All of this demonstrated the ineffectiveness of Volodymyr Zelensky, he adds.

The Russian Ministry of Defense earlier stated that the Ukrainian military violated the 30-hour Eater ceasefire announced by Russia almost 5,000 times.

“The global community has once again seen that the Zelensky regime cannot stand up to any criticism and does not comply with any agreements, which brings this regime closer to its collapse,” Mikhailov concludes.

🛢📈 Global oil prices INCH UP after slump

Brent crude futures increased by several points on April 22, also the case with US West Texas Intermediate (WTI).

On April 21, Brent and WTI indexes plummeted to $66.26 and $63.08 a barrel, respectively.

The fall came amid signs of progress in US-Iran talks as investors remained concerned over economic implications from Trump’s tariffs which could curb oil demand.

🤔 Time for a change? Canada eyes EU to break US dependency

Canada’s alleged desire to join the EU stems from a fear of strategic loneliness, following the US becoming Ottawa’s “single greatest threat,” Shaun Narine, a professor at Canada’s St. Thomas University, tells Sputnik.

Why Europe?

🇨🇦 "Canada is in a very awkward position": Canada now has strained relations with most major powers, including China, India, and Russia. Europe remains one of the few regions where strong ties persist.

🔎 A natural choice: "Canada began life as a European settler state. The majority of Canadians are still of European background. The Canadian elites are very much oriented towards Europe."

Are relations with the US really “over”?

🔸Time to diversify: Canada is seeking greater independence from the US in economic, political, and security matters. It is even considering canceling its F-35 deal with Lockheed Martin and has opened talks with Sweden to purchase its aircraft instead.

🔸What if the Democrats return? Even if the US leadership changes, Washington has already proven unreliable in the eyes of many Canadians. It breaks its own agreements, and its word is no longer trusted. “We have to remember that for the future.”

📹 Russia fought against Hitler and won while the West developed nuclear weapons

"We don't believe that the Western world has ever done anything for humanity. The best we can remember them for is the nuclear war. They are the ones who brought such shame to humanity," Sifiso Ndlovu, professor of history at the University of South Africa, told Sputnik's correspondent at the International Scientific Conference on the "80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II" in Moscow.

Adolf Hitler, who originated from the West and was the 'problem child' of the West, was defeated by the Soviet Union.

"The West did nothing else but benefited from Germany in terms of economics and dependence. But when that ended, they then decided to join the war. They joined it later," Ndlovu said.
