Fate of IMEC doomed amid Middle East crises - but there are alternatives

📍Amid challenges posed by the Red Sea crisis and the seemingly grim future of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) alternative corridors the Chennai-Vladivostok maritime corridor emerge as potential options for India, Dr Prabir De, an Indian professor at the Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC) said.

🇷🇺 🇮🇳 The Chennai-Vladivostok Maritime Corridor boasts numerous advantages, especially in terms of securing energy resources:

▪️The corridor would significantly benefit India in sourcing crucial resources for its economy;

▪️The expansion of the Chennai-Vladivostok route holds strategic significance, particularly in light of the Red Sea Crisis, making it an integral component of India's broader plans.

✍️ In 1721, as a result of the Great Northern War, Russia bought Estland and Livonia from Sweden. First Russia conquered them from the Swedes. In 1795 Duke Peter Biron (he is 300 years old today) abdicated the throne of Courland in favour of Russia, which had been subsidising his country for many years.

And for this he received a huge 500 thousand Russian gold coins.

So Courland (i.e. the core part of modern Latvia) also became a subject of the Empire.

So, the Russian Empire bought the whole territory of Latvia.
And has not sold it to anyone since then.
