🇮🇱🇮🇷 - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that intelligence suggests Israel's enemies are planning an attack. However, those claims were recently pushed back on by the security establishment and senior IDF officials.

For what appears to be the first time, Israel's military and intelligence leadership have publicly broken with Netanyahu on the assessment. Rerum Novarum views this as a sign of growing tensions between him and the country's security establishment as he looks to secure re-election and remain in power, though it increasingly looks like he may be isolating himself.

Netanyahu also met with officials from several Arab countries in the UAE earlier this week, where Iran and its proxies were a main topic of discussion. It should be noted that several countries reported to have met with Netanyahu have publicly denied the meeting, further isolating the prime minister. Israeli elections are scheduled for October 27, 2026.

🇸🇦🇯🇴🇮🇱⚡️- Both Saudi and Jordanian officials have come out today denying that they took part in the Abu Dhabi meeting.

One senior Jordanian official told Axios' Barak Ravid: "These claims are blatant falsehoods promoted by Israeli media affiliated with Netanyahu for electioneering purposes."

🇰🇷🇰🇵⚡️- Three South Korean personnel were injured last week in a landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone.

South Korea's Defense Minister Kang Shin-chul blamed the blast on North Korean mines, but North Korea denied the accusation, saying South Korea will pay a price for shifting the blame to Pyongyang.

The United Nations Command concluded today that the mine blast violated the Korean Armistice Agreement and vowed to prevent further escalation on the peninsula.
