🇪🇺🇨🇦⚡️- BREAKING: Ursula Von Der Leyen wants Canada to become the first "EU associated member".

🇾🇪🇪🇷 - The spill-over of the Middle East regional war to the Horn of Africa?

Media outlets affiliated with the National Resistance Forces, NRF, PLC-aligned, have repeatedly reported the arrival of weapons shipments by sea to Ansarullah-controlled ports, allegedly originating from Eritrea.

The allegations are notable given Eritrea's reported stockpiles of military equipment and longstanding accusations that Asmara has supplied weapons to various regional actors, including the TPLF separatist branch called the Tigray Defence Forces, TDF, and the Sudanese Armed Forces, SAF.

Note, in the past Afar separatists in Eritrea's east had reached out to Israel for assistance against alleged Asmara - Sana'a collusion.

Rerum Novarum's map shows the positions of Ansarullah, and across the narrow sea, the location of Eritrea, along with the Sudanese Armed Forces presence, as well as TDF areas of influence, and its' Army 70 & 13 branches in Sudan.

🇾🇪🇪🇷 - In 2016, the UAE established a military base at Eritrea's Assab Airport (at 13.07976, 42.6385). The base was used to launch its Yemeni Southern Transitional Council project, which began on the Island of Socotra, and was used to attack Ansarullah positions within the Aden-Ta'izz-Ad Dali triangle.

Later that year, Abu Dhabi requested a second 'secret' base on Eritrea's Dahlak Island, right in the middle of the Red Sea. The exact location of the base was supposed to be here: 15.75158, 39.97345. Asmara rejected the request, and its Foreign Ministry would several years later admit the UAE planned to use the 'secret' base with Israel to effectively control one of the world's most important waterways. Which indicates the UAE and Israel had strong relations well over four years before the signing of the Abraham Accords in 2020.

Ironically, just a year later, the UAE would begin the construction of a 'secret' military base with the assistance of Tareq Salah's forces on Yemen's Mayun Island (at 12.66661, 43.40925). The location of the base was vital, sitting right at the mouth of the Red Sea. Tareq Saleh, commander of the National Resistance Forces, was propped up by the Emirati state for one reason only, to combat al-Islah Party's influence in the Ta'izz region (which at the time, the rest of the Arab Gulf countries believed were backed by Qatar). It has long been believed that Israel had access to the Mayun Airbase, and were present at times on the island as well.

Relations between Eritrea and the UAE have since cooled considerably. Asmara revoked Emirati access to its military infrastructure and later joined Sudan in suspending agreements involving UAE's port giant DP World. Years later, Abiy Ahmed would win the elections in Ethiopia, and, backed by the UAE and Israel, eyes the Assab region as Addis Ababa's gateway to the Red Sea.

🇪🇷🇦🇪🇮🇱⚡- "The UAE is pursuing port imperialism across Africa. The UAE has port facilities everywhere in the region, and African countries have to ask why. Is it just for economics? No.

We didn’t want [UAE's] DP World [in Eritrea]. We do not want any foreign power to have a hub in Eritrea.

We have to ask why Israel is running to control the Horn of Africa? Why do they need a base in Somaliland? The UAE and Israel have already converged on Somaliland. [Ethiopian Prime Minister] Abiy Ahmed has a two-waters strategy like Israel. Only for him it is from the Nile River to the Red Sea [referring to Israel's expansionist policies from the Mediterranean to the Jordan River].

We decided we didn’t want their [Israeli] embassy here. We are not antagonistic to Israel, but we just decided we didn’t want any relations," - Osman Saleh, Eritrea's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Note, UAE's DP World and AD Ports have stakes in ports in Egypt, Tanzania, Somaliland, and Puntland.

🇪🇺⚡️- Ursula von der Leyen, Leader of the European Commission, held a speech today highlighting the next step for the European Union. Rerum Novarum has prepared a brief summary on its key points.

Various economical reforms are planned internally, notably for the industrial and energy sectors, in order to help the EU become less reliant on "outside actors and events". The EU will seek ways to better control its energy production and use to reduce imports.

Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed Europe's commitment to fighting climate change and vowed to lay the groundwork for a continental-wide plan to fight heatwaves.

The EU will not drop the AI race and will keep funding its own programs while also doubling down on security regarding AI risks.

Plans have officially been announced to create a European Security Council, which would be the spearhead of a unified, or at least more cooperative, European military policy. This council will have seats offered to non-EU members such as the UK or Canada.

The EU will keep funding Ukraine's effort and will move forward with new, harsher, sanctions on Russia. There are no plans to discard EU humanitarian aids to Gaza.

An urgent plan will be deployed to further fix the EU's mass immigration problem. Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed her support to Spain following the Ceuta's mass immigration wave from this summer. This emergency plan will "allow certain standard procedures to be bypassed".

A ban on social medias for kids under 13 is also in the works. It would be applied to all EU members. This plan will be named the Kids Act and will be presented tomorrow.

Details regarding these reforms will be provided by the European Commission and European leaders in the coming weeks.

According to numerous political forces, including Ursula von der Leyen herself, these next reforms are "do or die" as the European Union has faced exponentially increasing pressures for the past decades, both internally and externally.

🇺🇸🇮🇷🇴🇲⚡- BREAKING: US military personnel are crewing aboard US-contracted oil tankers to assist their passage through the Strait of Hormuz via the southern Omani route.

One US-contracted tanker was struck by multiple Iranian projectiles earlier this week, resulting in injuries to several US personnel on board. The wounded were subsequently evacuated to a Gulf Arab state for medical treatment.

It currently remains unknown whether the US is providing similar assistance to non-US-contracted ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

🇾🇪🇸🇦🇦🇪⚡- "UAE is conducting an intensive lobbying campaign in Washington aimed at persuading the U.S. administration not to support Saudi Arabia’s renewed war against the Houthis and pushing against weapons packages that could give Riyadh greater offensive capabilities to change the balance of power in Yemen.

Following the collapse of the Saudi-Emirati partnership in Yemen, Riyadh has become the principal external Arab power carrying the burden of the confrontation. A decisive Saudi victory would also allow Riyadh to rebuild the anti-Houthi camp under its leadership and weaken the value of the military and political networks the UAE spent years constructing across southern and coastal Yemen.

Abu Dhabi does not need to support the Houthis to benefit from their ability to exhaust Saudi Arabia. It simply needs to prevent Riyadh from obtaining the level of American assistance required to turn defensive containment into a decisive military victory.

That is why the confrontation is moving from Yemen to Washington. The UAE possesses extensive political, security and commercial relationships in the United States, allowing opposition to deeper Saudi military action to be presented through the language of restraint: preventing another regional war, avoiding another Yemen quagmire, limiting escalation with Iran and questioning whether a major Saudi offensive could produce a stable political settlement.

But behind the language of “restraint” lies a brutal Gulf struggle for power. Abu Dhabi does not need the Houthis to win. It only needs Saudi Arabia not to win," - The Dark Box, citing its high-level sources.
