🇷🇺🇸🇾⚡- Syria and Russia have signed a memorandum of understanding outlining the future of Russia’s presence at Hmeimim and Tartous following 18 months of negotiations.

Under the agreement, Syria will gradually take control of civilian facilities, including Hmeimim Airport and parts of Tartous Port, while Russian military installations will be transformed into joint Syrian-Russian training and qualification centers.

The transition is expected to be completed within three months.

The attack has been ongoing for 3+ hours.

🇮🇷🇴🇲⚡- BREAKING: A vessel is engulfed in flames off the coast of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz.

🇮🇷⚡- Iran downs a hostile drone over the south of its country. There are unconfirmed reports of a second drone also being shot down.

🇮🇱⚡- BREAKING: Officials from one Middle Eastern country privately advised another regional state to pursue an agreement with Israel as a tactical measure rather than a genuine peace arrangement. The rationale was to secure a 'peace' deal with Tel Aviv, lower Israel’s guard, and gain time to prepare for a much broader future confrontation before potentially abandoning the agreement.

Israel has imposed a military censorship on the identities of the two countries, Israeli Channel 11 reports. The report states all future normalization efforts from now on will be far more complex than it will publicly be acknowledged.

Unofficial Israeli media are circulating claims that the country allegedly encouraged to pursue a tactical "peace" agreement with Israel is Saudi Arabia, and the state advocating the approach: Turkey.

Note, Turkey and Israel are increasingly at odds across multiple theaters, including the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean, and parts of Africa. The reports also come as Saudi Arabia continues discussions with the United States over a civilian nuclear program, with normalization with Israel often cited as a key requirement. Meanwhile, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have recently moved closer on the security front through the signing of the trilateral Mecca Agreement defense pact.

🇲🇾🇮🇱⚡- Malaysian Coast Guard, MCG, has seized a cargo vessel with goods that were bound for Israel.

The vessel was boarded by the MCG in the Strait of Malacca. The identity of the vessel and the origin of its cargo remains unknown.

The vessel had recently called at Malaysia's Port of Tanjung Pelepas as a temporary transit stop. Malaysia's Border Control and Protection Agency said that preliminary checks indicate the shipment violates Malaysian laws prohibiting direct or indirect exports to Israel.

🇪🇹⚡- Ethiopian Armed Forces, ENDF, launched three drone strikes on Tigray Defense Forces, TDF, positions in the Merewa direction, southern Tigray region.

Ethiopian media reports the strikes targeted positions near Amhara regional border, indicating possible cooperation between Fano militias and the TDF (these claims have not been independently verified).

🇸🇴🇪🇹⚡- Ethiopia's Armed Forces, ENDF, withdraw from one of the largest forward operating bases actively used to combat al-Shabaab in Somalia - Buur Hakaba.

Buur Hakaba's ENDF base will be handed over to the Somalian military, ending Ethiopia's 12-year control over the vital military installation. The withdrawal comes amid intensified al-Shabaab military operations in the region, however Addis Ababa claims African Union's Mission to Somalia (AUSSOM) funding strains.

Note, relations between Addis Ababa and Mogadishu in the past 12 months have seriously deteriorated.

🇨🇴⚡️- A 7.4 magnitude earthquake has struck the western side of Colombia.

Injuries and severe damage have been reported in the city of Quibdo.

🇸🇦⚡- Saudi ARAMCO has pushed back the restart of its 400,000-bpd Jizan refinery until August 30 after the second Ansarullah attack on the facility on August 8.

The facility has remained shut since the initial Ansarullah attack on July 26.
