China has never publicly acknowledged the collision, but has added the names of the two individuals to its veterans' affairs ministry as killed in the line of duty, and vaguely mentioned a mission in the South China Sea. At the time of the collision last year, the Philippines had said that two Chinese personnel were killed, and another was missing.
