🇸🇩 - Over the weekend, the Sudanese Armed Forces, SAF, captured the entirety of the El-Obeid to Omdurman highway, as Rapid Support Forces, RSF, positions across North Kordofan have nearly collapsed. In a major strategic breakthrough, SAF regained control of Barah, Umm Garfa, Jabrah al-Sheikh, Ghabshan, and Umm Sayyalah.

As Rerum Novarum anticipated, the Joint Forces of Darfur's offensive—which we had called a 'diversion'—appears to have helped draw RSF manpower and resources away from the siege of El-Obeid. Facing the disaster in the al-Genina direction, West Darfur, the RSF was forced to redeploy forces from the El-Obeid direction, creating an opening that the SAF exploited to not only lift the siege but also break the RSF lines in North Kordofan.

The advance has reopened a vital supply corridor between Omdurman and El-Obeid, while also placing the RSF's key drone launch site (shown on the map in blue) at Umm Shalabiyeh under threat. This is the same drone base used routinely to attack Khartoum and Port Sudan.

The Rapid Support Forces took heavy casualties, as well as substantial material losses. Scores of technicals were simply abandoned as they fled.

🇸🇦🇮🇶🇾🇪⚡- Moments ago, a U.S. one-way drone was downed in the Babil Province in Iraq (shown on Rerum Noavrum's map in purple). The group responsible has not yet been identified.

Interestingly, al-Jazeera's Yemen correspondent Ahmed al-Shalfi, citing Iraqi sources, claims an Ansarullah delegation from Yemen recently arrived in Musayyib (shown on the map) in the Babil Province, Iraq, to meet with pro-Iranian Iraqi-based militias. The meeting took place on Saturday, one of the Ansarullah individuals was a senior al-Houthi official Abu Ali al-Azi.

In mid-2024, a U.S. airstrike targeted a house in Jurf al-Shakhar (now Jurf al-Nasr) in northern Babil Province during a clandestine meeting between Ansarullah and Hezbollah figures. Those killed were later identified as Mustafa al-Shabal of Ansarullah and Abu Hassan al-Maliki of Hezbollah.

Ironically, two days after the Ansarullah-Iraqi militias meeting on Saturday, Saudi Arabia claimed Iraqi-based groups attacked ARAMCO's refinery in Abqaiq in the east of the Kingdom.

🇱🇾 - Massive protests erupted last night in Tripoli, Misrata, and nearby towns of the Government of National Unity, GNU, controlled western Libya.

The protests initially began as a youth movement, known as the Sons of Sough al-Jumah (Friday Market - a district of Tripoli), but escalated into calling for the downfall of the Prime Minister of western Libya, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.

Protestors stormed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, Mellitah oil facilities, administrative buildings of multiple different towns, and the Ministry of Youth building. Protestors also set up multiple roadblocks across Misrata and Tripoli.

Local armed group leaders were also present in the anti-Dbeibeh protests.
