🇺🇸🇯🇴🇮🇷 - On the 17th of July Iran claimed to have struck U.S. troops / military assets in al-Tanf military base (a Free Syrian Army position), Palmyra direction, eastern Syria. The claims were absurd as all U.S forces south of the Euphrates have withdrawn, the last of which withdrew in early February 2026.

However, satellite imagery from July 20 shows an impact at Tower 22 (33.3148254, 38.7011922), a Jordanian military installation in the north of the country, near the tri-border Syria-Iraq-Jordan point.

A significant number of U.S. personnel formerly stationed at al-Tanf had been relocated to Tower 22. The base is currently assessed to host approximately 200–300 U.S. troops and serves as a key hub for counter-terrorism operations.

It's likely that Iranian officials intended to refer to Tower 22 rather than the Syrian garrison at al-Tanf.
