🇺🇸🇮🇷 - Iran has claimed that overnight strikes targeted the al-Tanf military base (33.5073338, 38.6183227) and possibly its nearby airstrip (33.4354234, 38.8287812) in southeastern Syria, allegedly killing multiple U.S. personnel and destroying large amounts of American military equipment.

The claim is entirely fabricated. The U.S withdrew from the base four months ago, at the start of February in early 2026. Not only has the U.S. withdrawn, but Syria's use of the base is very minimal, and it remains inactive.

American troops are also not present at any of the border bases of Iraq, including the 4th Border Brigade's Base (33.4378354, 38.9243584), which is directly opposite al-Tanf. The only American deployment, approximately 300-400 personnel, present in the wider area are at Tower 22 (33.3137932, 38.7023623) in Jordan.

The Iranian statement is a ridiculous attempt at projecting false propaganda.
