🇺🇸🇮🇷⚡️- The War Powers Resolution has passed the House, but has yet to pass the Senate, which is required for this to take effect. After the resolution has passed the Senate, President Trump still also has the ability to veto the resolution; this veto can only be bypassed with a two-thirds majority in Congress, meaning they would require 290 of 435 House members (they currently have 218), AND 67 of 100 senators.

It's important to note that the War Powers Resolution limits the president from continuing military action for longer than 60 days without congressional approval, but does not prevent the President from starting military actions in situations of a "national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces." This would include "self-defence" strikes against Iran.

Trump and the administration have already publicly stated that the previous operation against Iran has ended because of the ceasefire, so from what Trump has publicly claimed, any new strikes would be a "new" war and not related to the previous one.

This obviously is all very grey area and lawyers trying to push the boundaries; assuming the war continues, this will be legally contested during and/or after a war, although little can be done to stop a war that has already started. It is unclear if the legal proceedings will start before or after the legal proceedings over why the Epstein Files still aren't released despite the full release being required on December 19, 2025

🇺🇸⚡️- John Bolton, President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser-turned-adversary, is expected to plead guilty over mishandling classified documents. CNN reports he has agreed to pay a fine of $2 million. John Bolton was paid $2 million dollars in advance for a book he wrote, The Room Where It Happened, which the Trump administration tried to stop from being released.

John Bolton was under investigation for a diary where he kept dairy entries from the first Trump administration.
