It seems likely that the aircraft encountered issues, while returning from its mission, that were unrecoverable and was abandoned into the sea to avoid further damage.

🇺🇸🇮🇷⚡️- For clarification, the recent article from the Washington Post talking about additional troops is not a new deployment. The article discusses the deployment of the USS George H.W. Bush carrier group and the USS Boxer, along with its amphibious assault group. These were known to be on their way for over 2 weeks and the article only states they will soon enter the CENTCOM area of responsibility.

UN-marked vehicles were eventually allowed to proceed; however, local contractors were required to return to Beirut under security arrangements, despite the convoy having been fully deconflicted in advance, including their presence.
 
This is not an isolated incident. Similar restrictions, through physical roadblocks or the reversal of prior clearances, have affected both peacekeepers and the essential personnel who support them. These actions raise concerns regarding the timely delivery of critical supplies, including food, fuel, and water, to UNIFIL positions, particularly along the Blue Line.
