🇹🇷🇮🇶 - Ershat Salihi, leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, an organization representing ethnic Turks (also known as Turkmen) in Iraq and Syria, claimed that PKK-affiliated Kurdish militias had entered the Turkmen-populated city of Kirkuk.

Turkish nationalists, such as former presidential candidate Sinan Oğan and leader of the Good Party Meral Akşener, declared "Kirkuk is Turkish and will remain so", seemingly calling for further anti-PKK action in North Iraq.

🇹🇷 - It is important to remember that despite Turkey's support for Syrian oppositionists, Turkish nationalists claim parts of Northern Iraq and Syria due to the Misak-i Milli (National Oath), a series of resolutions passed by the first Turkish parliament under Atatürk.
