hey what’s up yall, i (22M) clearly i am not from kolkata and have never been to kolkata let alone india, but my dad grew up in shyambazar kolkata and went to la martiniere for boys in school and thats really all i know about him before he moved to the united states, met my american mother and had me. (he passed away in 2015 when i was 13) the older i get the more i want to know more about my culture and where i come from but i don’t really have much contact with my indian family these days. id love to connect with someone my age male or female so i can learn more about people my age in the city where my origins are from and what kids my age are up to in this really cool city. in return we can connect and be friends and i’ll tell you all about my adventures in the USA and it’ll be like modern day pen pals if that isn’t too strange. if you’re interested in making a friend across the world please let me know, message me etc and we can become buddies :) thanks 4 reading!!

Paranormal Incident on NE Railways, and the death of my grandfather's friend
I never really believed in paranormal activities, but there's been this thing... my grandfather, uncle, and father, my mom's grandfather, my pisi have all had weird encounters that you can't explain as anything other than paranormal. This is one such incident.
And no i am not making this up, this is something i have been told, fortunately not present to be witnessed.
I heard this story from my grandfather when I was a kid and dismissed it as just a tale. But today, something happened.
It happened roughly in the time frame of 1980-1982
After retiring from the army, my grandfather joined the Indian Railways as a loco inspector. It was routine for him to wake up at odd hours, like 3 or 4 AM, and leave for work.
This incident happened on the railway tracks in Northeast India, near the Darjeeling side. It was a regular night—my grandfather woke up, my grandmother packed some tiffin for him, and he left around midnight. That night, there were two loco drivers with him, assigned to carry a freight train through a jungle route.
At around 2 AM, the train broke down (which was normal back then). My grandfather sent one of the drivers to the nearest station (about 300 meters away) to talk to the station master. Meanwhile, he and the other driver decided to rest since the driver had been working nonstop.
They stepped down from the train and saw benches at the station. The driver lay down on one bench, covering himself with a gamcha (thin cloth), while my grandfather rested on another bench. After about two minutes, the driver suddenly shouted in pain, yelling that someone had slapped him on the back.
My grandfather dismissed it, saying he must have dozed off and dreamed it. But then, the driver opened his shirt—and there, imprinted on his back, was a bright red handprint. Someone (or something) had slapped him so hard that the mark stayed.
Both were shocked. Just then, the other driver returned and said there was no station master at the station—meaning no help would arrive anytime soon. Terrified, they all got back on the train and rested there instead.
For years, I thought this was just a madeup story—until today. My grandfather called me in the morning, which was unusual because he never calls just to share news like this. He told me his friend had passed away—and then he mentioned, "That was the man from the railway incident."
