What just happened?
The lights suddenly went off. Went to the terrace, the entire city was completely dark. Electricity came back after 10 minutes. Was it a blackout? Who all experienced it?
EDIT: I live near Bansdroni.

Kolkata Police and their fine quota! TLDR evaded fine
Was coming back to South Kolkata yesterday from Salt Lake, nicked a signal when it was just turning red before the former AMRI hospital. I’m sure the signal was yellow when i crossed it.
After crossing the island, a cop shows me the stop signal with his hand on the right side of the road; for which I did stop but went a little ahead and stopped on the left side of the road.
Cop comes up to me and tells me he got offended because I didn’t stop where he asked. I stopped like 20-30 mtrs ahead, how could I have stopped right there? Now I tell him I didn’t commit any crime but was cooperating with him. He keeps arguing that I did the wrong thing.
Next he accuses me of breaking the signal lol.
Now I am fully pissed and I step out of the vehicle, I tell him to show me the evidence. He keeps arguing for a while that it may take time and he will keep my vehicle registration number, check for the violation and give a case later.
Me being fully confident that I didn’t break any signal, i told him I will sit there till he brings me proof that I am in violation and then I will happily comply with the case.
Now he plays the sergeant card- “Sergeant’r kache niye jabo, tokhon boro fine lagbe”
I tell him he can do whatever he wants but I want evidence.
Then he says “amader chokh jaano toh, ak baat e dhore nei”
I still stood my ground for evidence and tell him I am confident that I didn’t violate the signal.
Then he accuses me of fighting with a policeman, big LOL. I ask him “amader rights nei ki??”
Then he finally says, I am letting you go and not giving any case but aapni baari te giye bhaben. Lol.
Amader fine korte hoye roj, quota thaake. Taka amader kache jaabe na, momota didir kache jaabe.
But shouldn’t fines be reducing for a more compliant traffic area??
Anyway, was happy that I didn’t take a L. But still, this is not the first time a cop told me they have to fulfill a fine’r quota. Such a pity on us common citizens.
Jai Hind.
