There was no security at my WBJEE center today🙏
The state of affairs in this state is in a horrible state. Frisking, metal detectors are like the bare minimum for any such competitive exam, and today I found out that its possible to not have even a person at the gates. Literally anyone could take a phone, notes, books etc inside the hall. The invigilators could not care less about their job (this was probably only in my hall cuz some of my friends said they had strict invigilation). They just did their signatures and sat there staring at their phone while people were talking, looking at answer sheets copying, all sorts. I fully understand this happening during boards or some other exam but an exam like WBJEE where people really study hard and dedicate a lot of time and effort shouldnt be conducted in this way. Disappointment would be an understatement.

Traumatized by an Ola driver experience in Kolkata — please read and help amplify
I’m writing this with a lot of frustration and heaviness because even after trying to move on, I’m left with sleepless nights. I travel a lot, and I understand that cab booking from Kolkata airport is never smooth. But this time, something deeply wrong happened that went beyond inconvenience — it was outright harassment and manipulation.
I booked an Ola cab from the airport to my home. After waiting for nearly 30 minutes, a driver finally accepted the ride. He called me, and the moment he realized it was an online payment, he cancelled the ride — something a lot of passengers in Kolkata will be familiar with. But then came the shady part — he called me again and said, “Do a GPay of Rs. 700 and I will drop you personally.”
This was my mistake — I was exhausted after my flight, emotionally and physically tired, and in that moment of weakness, I agreed to go ahead with the personal booking, off the app. That’s where the ordeal began.
I asked him clearly if the AC was working, and he assured me that it was. That gave me some relief. For the first 5 minutes, the AC worked — but after crossing the first flyover, the AC suddenly stopped cooling. I politely asked him to switch it on properly again, and he just shrugged and said, “It’s running.”
As time passed, the heat inside the car became unbearable, and I became absolutely certain the AC was NOT on. Also , it was not even a hot sunny day . I reached my hand towards the front AC vents from the back seat — there was no cold air, just slightly warm airflow. This wasn’t just discomfort — it was deception.
I was paying more than what the official fare would’ve been, and the driver was knowingly lying to me about something as basic as the air conditioning. I didn’t want to escalate it or get into a confrontation, because honestly, Kolkata doesn’t feel very safe anymore, especially in isolated situations like this. So, I asked him to drop me at a bus stop, and I even offered him Rs. 100 to compensate for the short ride.
That’s when he started arguing, trying to play the victim. He begged me to stay, said he’d fix the AC. He stopped the car, did something under the bonnet, and suddenly — the AC started working perfectly. Clearly, he had turned it off on purpose earlier, to either save fuel or just to harass. I reached home, but the story doesn’t end there.
At drop-off, he had the audacity to ask for Rs. 100 extra for parking. Thank God I had confirmed this at the Ola counter at the airport, and they confirmed that parking is included in the fare. I stood my ground and refused to pay him anything beyond what was already agreed.
But what hurt the most was — there was not an ounce of guilt, regret, or apology. He just smirked, like he had “won” by scamming me.
I have the car and driver’s details, but I’m not sharing it publicly here, because he now knows my home address, and I honestly don’t feel safe. But this person should be banned from every platform — Ola, Uber, Rapido, Yatri, Sathi, all of them.
These people are coming from other places into the city to earn a living, but resorting to lies, manipulation, and harassment isn’t “making a living” — it’s a con job. I feel deeply unsettled thinking about how many other passengers he’s trying to fool — some may not be able to speak up or resist like I did.
Please help me take action — if anyone here has contacts at Ola or reach on social media, please repost and share this. I’ve tried to let it go, but it’s eating away at me.
I want accountability. I want safety. I want respect for passengers.
