Everyone who is making excuses for their own abuse and oppression will find the same thing out:
Your ability to deceive yourself will not be able to keep up with your oppressors capacity for cruelty and exploitation.
It would be great if, when this realization comes, you still have the energy to take a different direction in your life!
For many people, the realization comes too late - and knowing that, the subconscious will prevent the realization from coming at all.
Many reasons to avoid seeing the truth! Sunk cost fallacy, or simply enshrined beliefs about the way you need and depend on your abuser.
(Meanwhile, there are many toxic behaviour patterns we'll employ to try and get attention from other people, family members, to try and.. help us, supplement our energy systems as we get drained..
But some of us are so smart, so stubborn, and on the other hand, have such supportive families, that we can keep this dynamic up for decades until we suddenly find ourselves among life's ruins)
I am grateful that it's not me anymore.
