Hungarian Govt Official Sacked After Bribery Allegations

A senior official has been fired and is cooperating with an investigation into alleged bribery, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban’s office confirmed Monday. (Reuters)

The official, whose name was not released, held the rank of department head and worked on EU-funded projects, according to local media.

The EU has long threatened to cut funding to Budapest unless it takes concrete steps to curb corruption.
