The mortality rate of Nipah ranges between 40 to 75%, far higher than the 1% rate for coronavirus, according to the World Health Organisation.

Scientists have been growing worried about the disease since February, with fears heightening that it could potentially becoming the next 'big' worldwide virus.

A prominent Irish politician is in the clear over alleged thefts of booze from a petrol station.

The Irish Mirror has learned that the Director of Public Prosecutions has decided not to charge the politician, who is a former TD still involved in politics โ€” and instead he has been cautioned by gardai.

Earlier this year we revealed how the politician was arrested following thefts at a premises in Ireland on November 1 last year and March 14 of this year.

The politician, who is well known and has made national headlines over the years, was questioned by gardai in relation to both incidents.
