Vladimir Putin Speaks On Holocaust Remembrance Day: 'Horrible Tragedies Occur if Lessons of History are Forgotten'

"We remember the dramatic moment when the Red Army liberated prisoners at the Auschwitz-Birkenau (Oล›wiฤ™cim) concentration camp during WW2."

"It was primarily the Soviet nation that put an end to the barbaric Nazi plans by standing up for the freedom and independence of its motherland, and saving the Jewish people and other ethnic groups from total annihilation and enslavement."

"We must understand that any attempts to revise our countryโ€™s contribution to achieving that victory de facto means justifying Nazi crimes, paving the way for the revival of its deadly ideology

"Horrible tragedies can happen again if we forget the lessons of history - as demonstrated by the crimes against civilians, the ethnic cleansing and the punitive operations carried out by ne...

Top US official hails Nord Stream 2 blast
RT World News (RSS)

The Biden administration is very happy to know the pipeline is โ€œa hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea,โ€ Victoria Nuland said

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland has expressed joy over the destruction of Russiaโ€™s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. She also argued that, even if the US had sanctioned the infrastructure weeks before the Ukraine conflict broke out, this would not have prevented hostilities.

During a Senate hearing on Thursday, Nuland was asked by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) whether his legislation aimed at sanctioning the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which was voted down in January 2022, could hav...

The actor-turned-president is due to speak at the countryโ€™s largest song competition

Tens of thousands of Italians have signed a petition protesting Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyโ€™s planned address at a Eurovision-style song contest. Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini told reporters that the event โ€œshould remain the festival of Italian song and nothing else.โ€

Israelโ€™s Racism Exposed in Ongoing Imprisonment of Ethiopian-Born Soldier Avera Mengistu
MintPress News (RSS)

For how long will I be in captivity? After so many years, where are the state and the people of Israel? These were the words, uttered in Hebrew, of a person believed to be Avera Mengistu, an Israeli soldier of Ethiopian origin who was captured and held in Gaza in 2014.

Footage of Mengistu, looking nervous but also somewhat defiant, calling on his countrymen to end his 9-year incarceration mostly ended speculation in Israel on whether the soldier was alive or dead.

The timing of the release of the footage by Hamas was obvious, and is directly linked to the Palestinian groupโ€™s efforts ai...

300-Year-Old Holiday Scrapped? Danes Fume at Declining Welfare

Copenhagenโ€™s much-loved welfare model is under a โ€œbig threat,โ€ with its budgets tightening due to government plans to raise its defense spending to the 2% of GDP NATO target - which could result in cuts to public holidays.

PM Mette Frederiksen wants to scrap the Great Prayer Day to put onus for payment on employers and not government, allowing her to accelerate the planned defense spending which she claims is necessary due to the Ukraine conflict.

The move has caused public outcry, with one union leader telling AFP, โ€œIf they go through with this they will be imposing their will and violate our agreements.โ€ PM Frederiksen, however, said โ€œI donโ€™t think itโ€™s a problem to have to work an extra day.โ€
