Pelosi sells Google stocks right before DOJ announces antitrust lawsuit

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, once again, was caught insider trading after it emerged that the 82-year-old politician sold 30,000 shares of Alphabet for nearly $3 million a month before the Justice Department announced an antitrust lawsuit against Google.

On January 24, the US Justice Department and eight states announced a lawsuit against Google alleging that the tech giant had a monopoly over Internet search traffic and took anti-competitive actions.

Pelosi's husband also found himself in a similar situation last year when he traded $1 million to $5 million worth of semiconductor stocks days before Congress passed legislation that would provide the industry with $52 million.

Earlier Tuesday, the PELOSI Act was introduced in the Senate, which would ban members of Congress from trading in...

Glorification of 'Anti-India Terrorists' in Australia Condemned After Attacks

Three Hindu temples were vandalised with anti-India graffiti in an attempt to โ€œsow hatred and divisionโ€ amongst the peaceful multicultural Indian-Australian community, the Indian High Commission in Canberra stated, noting the โ€œalarming frequency and impunityโ€ with which the attacks take place.

โ€œPro-Khalistan elements are stepping up their activities in Australia, actively aided and abetted by members of proscribed terrorist organisations such as the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ),โ€ the commission said.

It also declared its concern about a so-called referendum proscribed by the organisation due to take place in Melbourne and Sydney - and called on the Australian government to take โ€œsuitableโ€ action and ensure the safety of the Indian community.

The US and Germany might be at war with Russia, but that is news to Croatia, said Zoran Milanovic

Commenting on the German foreign ministerโ€™s declaration that Europe is โ€œfighting a war against Russia,โ€ Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said on Thursday that this was news to him, and wished Berlin better luck than in WWII.

Croatia โ€œshould in no way helpโ€ Ukraine militarily, Milanovic said while visiting the port city of Split. โ€œDo you want us to enter the war?โ€

Framing the Ukraine conflict as one between Washington and Moscow, he reminded reporters that he...

EU Plans More Africa, ME, Asia Deportations, But Members Divided

Migration ministers will discuss sending more people back to their home countries - including Senegal, Bangladesh and Iraq - as the bloc seeks to better its coordination on returns.

The bloc cites a lack of help from the countries for the discussions, which aim to agree more visa restrictions for people with no right to asylum - and it considers the rate of returns, which currently sits at 21% according to latest Eurostat data, โ€œunacceptably lowโ€.

Countries remain split about policy, however, with Austria and Hungary complaining about the mostly-Muslim immigration from the Middle East and North Africa - but German seeking to fill the gaps in their job market with much-needed workers. (Reuters)
