VARADKAR LANDS HIMSELF IN A WHOLE LOT OF TROUBLE AGAIN!

Last night (Saturday 4th September), the government jet departed Baldonnell at 20:00 hrs and landed in RAF Northolt just over an hour later. The aircraft overnighted in the airbase and departed this morning just after 11:30 AM for Dublin.

I was tipped off by a trusted source that the jet was going to position (fly empty) to London in anticipation of picking up “important passenger(s) and that it would be an interesting story. It looks like that is going to be an understatement!

It’s rare to see the government jet operating at such ungodly hours unless there is an urgent air ambulance or medivac situation underway.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar was said to be on “private business” according to a spokesman and was seen attending a major pop festival in London yesterday afternoon, which no doubt he is entitled to do in his own time.

However, the reason that the government jet was in London was to pick up Leo Varadkar and bring him back to Dublin after being on “private business” but not on government business, as is the strict rule around the use of the government jet.

Not only is this flight a serious cost to the taxpayers but is essentially an unauthorised use of the aircraft unless the Taoiseach gives authorisation explicitly and then only for a very humanitarian cause.

Varadkar’s concert going antics does not justify a humanitarian cause nor does it justify the thousands of Euro to have the jet position to London, keep a crew of three overnight in a decent hotel and then make the return trip back to Baldonnell.

As I write this, the aircraft has just come in over the Irish sea and is landing at Baldonnell and with any luck, this information about his use of the government jet for “private purposes will hopefully meet him on arrival via social media.

The sense of entitlement from Varadkar is absolutely astounding, however, someone in authority had to give the go-ahead for the flight to happen, and that authority can only come from Micheál Martin.

Enough is enough. They both have to go and go NOW!

It used to be all about learning to walk on the cobblestones in Trinity College or taking in the wide-eyed excitement of a college Freshers’ week.

For the new crop of students who got their Leaving Cert results yesterday it will be college life with a difference. They will not escape the shadow of Covid-19.

Of course, it will still be the chance of a lifetime and great fun.

Sarah Harding has died at the age of 39 just a year after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The talented Girls Aloud singer slipped away just weeks after revealing the disease was terminal and telling fans that Christmas 2020 was likely to have been her last.

Her mum broke the news today on Instagram.

She wrote: “It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away. Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day. She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved.
