Russian And Belarusian Flags Banned at Australian Open

Australian Open tournament officials reversed a decision to allow fans to carry Russian and Belarusian flags on Tuesday, after Ukrainian fans called police over what they claimed was “taunting” of Ukraine’s Kateryna Baindl.

The fan who held up a Russian flag in the match between Baindl and Russia's Kamilla Rakhimova insisted: “We were just being your normal supporters. There was no ridiculing or disrespect."

Taliban Masks Mannequins In Kabul

The Taliban has banned shopkeepers in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, from using uncovered mannequins to display clothing in shop windows, forcing owners to completely cover them in masks.

Initially the order had been to behead all mannequins as the regime cited Islamic law banning statues in human form as they could be worshiped as idols, but some Kabul shop owners pushed back against the edict which they said damaged sales.

“Everyone knows mannequins aren’t idols, and no one’s going to worship them,” complained one shop owner to the AP. “In all Muslim countries, mannequins are used to display clothes.”
