Jan 6 - What's Wrong with Inflation?
henrymakow.com (RSS)

As this cartoon illustrates, inflation is mainly a threat to the people who create the fairy dust we call money. It is a boon for those who own tangible assets.

Please send links, comments and articles to hmakow@gmail.com

Inflation is natural when you multiply the money supply by a factor of five.

WHO Slams China โ€œUnder-Representingโ€ Covid Cases

World Health Organization officials have slated Beijing for apparently inaccurately reporting the number of Covid cases in the country, accusing the official definition of what constitutes a Covid death.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus claimed he was worried about the โ€œrisk to life in Chinaโ€ reiterating the โ€œimportance of vaccinationโ€ฆto protect against hospitalization and death.โ€

China only records those Covid patients who died from respiratory failure as Covid deaths in official data, but insisted Thursday it has always shared information โ€œin a timely, open and transparent mannerโ€.

TikTok Freezes US Security Deal Consultant Hiring

TikTok has reportedly halted a drive to recruit auditors and consultants that would form part of a security deal with US authorities โ€œdue to recent developmentsโ€, Reuters has reported, without confirming when, or whether, the process would resume.

The independent group would be employed by parent company ByteDance but report to Washington to ensure US user data is not accessed in China under the proposed agreement that has not yet been officially signed.

TikTok did not specify which recent developments specifically had caused the decision to stop the hiring process, but the move comes weeks after it admitted employees had improperly accessed user data of two journalists.

M23 Rebels Retreat Promise Rubbished

Democratic Republic of Congo (officials have cast doubt on the intentions of M23 rebel fighters after the group promised to withdraw from the countryโ€™s eastern town of Rumangabo and hand back control of the nearby military base.

M23 forces have made significant territorial gains since September displacing tens of thousands of people and reportedly killing hundreds, and are accused of breaking a ceasefire agree last November.

Earlier promises to withdraw from Kibumba, which M23 claimed was a โ€œgoodwill gesture done in the name of peaceโ€, were slated by government officials as a โ€œshamโ€.

China to lose most populous countryโ€™s title this year โ€“ UN
RT World News (RSS)

India is set to take the lead by April

India will become the worldโ€™s most populous country by April 14, reaching 1.43 billion and overtaking China earlier than previously expected, according to UN data. The countryโ€™s population, currently over 1.4 billion, is expected to continue to grow to 1.7 billion in 2064 before it starts to decline.

The UN has repeatedly moved up its estimate of when India will overtake its northern neighbor in population. As recently as 2019, it was not expected to happen until 2027. It will be the first time in 300 years China is not the population leader.

While India has been growing at a rate of...

A Battle of the Sexes
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

If Americaโ€™s women want men to change, theyโ€™ll need to change, too, for the sexes rise and fall together.

By Carmel RICHARDSON

Something is wrong with American men, and everyone can see it.

These failures of men are largely agreed upon by the political right, and even some on the left. Boys do not become men by passively consuming digital sex, social media, and seed oils. They do not become men by entering the rat race, paying into Social Security and living as permanent renters while their own savings amount to future pennies on the present U.S. dollar. Neither do they become men by skirting these problems and living in their parentsโ€™ basements, posting inflammatory online missives while remaining safely ensconced.
