Western mediaโ€™s anti-Iran reporting waives journalistic integrity to manufacture hate
RT World News (RSS)

There are honest ways to criticize the Iranian government, but the media chose to whip up a frenzy with unverified and false stories

Since the eruption of civil unrest in the Islamic Republic back in September, Western media has not shied away from spreading uncorroborated or outright false stories about Iranโ€™s government. The implications of the constant stream of disinformation is the justification of sanctions that kill Iranians.

Following the death in Iranian custody of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, back in mid-September, civil unrest in Iran spread far and wide, with protests sparked over foreign media repor...

โ—๏ธPutin Orders Christmas Truce โ€” Details

President Vladimir Putin has ordered Russian troops to impose a cessation in hostilities in Ukraine. Hours earlier, Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill had called on the forces of both sides of the conflict to cease hostilities in the run-up to and during the holiday.

According to the Kremlin, the truce is intended to last from noon on Friday January 6 until midnight on Saturday January 7.

โ€œJudging by the fact that a lot of citizens who practice the Orthodox religion live in the embattled area, we call upon the Ukrainian side to proclaim a cessation of hostilities and give them the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day,โ€ Moscow said.

Netanyahu Announces Foreign Policy Change

Israel will revise its foreign policy to make it more consistent with its national priorities, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who formed a new government last month following snap elections, said on Wednesday. The country will no longer bow its head in response to the worldโ€™s demands, he told a conference held by the Betar Zionist movement in Jerusalem.

โ€œOur voice will be heard in the world,โ€ the prime minister said as he announced โ€œa revision of foreign relationsโ€ among other policy changes his newly-formed government is planning to introduce. โ€œInstead of โ€ฆ giving in to dictates from the international community, we will proudly uphold our interests in the State of Israel and the Land of Israel,โ€ he added.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง: Food Prices Skyrocketing Despite Easing Shop Inflation

The Ukraine conflict has kept grain exports locked in the country, leading to a global shortage of inputs required to produce basic foods and lifting costs in the UK. (CityAM)

Meanwhile food retailers are reportedly being incentivised to lift prices in order to offset the impact of the global energy crisis caused by Western Sanctions on Russia.

This has caused a massive jump in food price inflation at 13.3% from 12.4% - while fresh food prices climbed 15% since last year - significantly eroding the average UK householdโ€™s purchasing power.

Economists Issue Grim 2023 Forecast

The globe will slide into a recession next year as a number of economies will contract due to surging borrowing costs introduced to combat inflation, the UK-based Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) has predicted in its latest report.

The world economy surpassed $100 trillion for the first time ever in 2022 but will stall in 2023 as โ€œthe battle against inflation is not won yet,โ€ while regulators will keep raising interest rates, the consultancy said in its annual World Economic League Table.

โ€œWe expect central bankers to stick to their guns in 2023 despite the economic costs. The cost of bringing inflation down to more comfortable levels is a poorer growth outlook for a number of years to come,โ€ the director and head of forecasting at CEBR, Kay Daniel Neufeld, wrote.

Ukraine Warns Germany Of โ€˜Russians Outside Berlinโ€™

Should Germany fail to provide Ukraine with tanks, it will soon have to use them to defend its own capital from advancing Russian troops, Alexey Danilov, the head of Ukraineโ€™s National Security and Defense Council, warned on Wednesday.

Speaking to Ukrainian TV, Danilov took a swipe at Germanyโ€™s leadership, particularly at Chancellor Olaf Scholz, criticizing him for refusing to send Kiev modern Leopard 2 battle tanks.

If Scholz โ€œwants the Germans to deploy German tanks to fight off the Russians outside of Berlin and Stuttgart, he could continue this game, conducting sociological surveys on whether they need to give us tanks or not,โ€ he said.
