Oil Prices Slump On Gloomy Economic Outlook

Oil prices continued to slide on Wednesday, weighed down by China’s rising Covid cases and a recession warning from the International Monetary Fund.

Brent crude futures for the March contract had fallen to $79.26 a barrel, a 3.4% loss, as of 12:41 GMT. WTI, the American benchmark, was down over 3.2%, falling to $74.47 per barrel. On Tuesday, both benchmarks plunged more than 4%.

The number of Covid-19 cases has surged in mainland China over the past few days, triggering fears of more disruption for an economy already weakened by nearly three years of pandemic restrictions.

Innocent-on-the-surface emojis, such as the cake, the ice cream and the watermelon are all potentially slang for cannabis, while the petrol pump means cocaine, and drug purity is measured on a standardized scale from fist to bomb.

But it’s not just drugs. Your son or daughter – whatever gender the teacher may have assigned them – may be sending things like the eggplant emoji as slang for naughty sexy things like it’s 2017.

Twitter Sued For Allegedly Failing To Pay Rent

Twitter has been accused of not paying its rent in a lawsuit filed by the landlord for one of the social media company's offices in California, according to court papers filed in San Francisco Superior Court at the end of December.

The complaint by Columbia REIT – 650 California, also known as Columbia Property Trust, asks the court to force Twitter to pay $136,250 in unpaid rent, plus interest, along with attorney’s fees.

The landlord also claims that on December 16 the social media giant was notified it would default on its lease for the 30th floor of the Hartford Building, located on the edge of San Francisco's financial district, in five days unless the rent was paid.
