Wall Street sees S&P 500 flat this year

Wall Street's top strategists are making a wide range of forecasts for 2023, reflecting the current high uncertainty amid slowing growth and persistent financial tightening by central banks.

The S&P 500 is projected to average 4,031 at the end of 2023, up only about 6% from its current level of about 3,825.

This year, equity analysts have been more cautious, after overestimating the S&P 500 index's performance in 2022 by nearly 40%, marking their biggest miss since 2008, when analysts overshot by 92%.

Many macro strategists have also said in their 2023 outlooks they expect the US economy to slip into recession by mid-year, further undermining equity valuations as corporate profits slump and unemployment climbs.

Djokovic Backs Russian Players

Novak Djokovic has backed the rights of Russian and Belarusian players to appear on the world tennis tour, despite the widespread bans imposed across a range of other sports.

Tennis has been among the outliers in global sport after governing bodies the ATP and WTA allowed players such as Russian menโ€™s star Daniil Medvedev and Belarusian womenโ€™s ace Aryna Sabalenka to continue to compete at major events.

โ€œOf course, of course, absolutely,โ€ Djokovic was quoted as saying when asked if he wanted to see every player compete at every Grand Slam.

โ€œI hope [Daniil Medvedev] and other Russian, Belarusian players will be able to play everywhere,โ€ added the 21-time Grand Slam winner.

RT World News (RSS)

A US judge has called the case โ€œthe most emotionally drainingโ€ of her entire career

US funeral home operator Megan Hess was sentenced to 20 years in a federal prison on Tuesday, six months after pleading guilty to defrauding relatives of the 560 corpses she and her mother dissected and sold.

The scheme involved Sunset Mesa Funeral Home and its sister operation, Donor Services, owned by Hess and her mother, Shirley Koch, who received a 15-year sentence.

Koch also pleaded guilty to defrauding relatives of the dead last year. The older woman was allegedly responsible for cutting up the bodies, while Hess smooth-talked the livi...
