The New York Times Is Diminishing Itself
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

By Ralph NADER

Give the New York Times its due. Its teams of reporters produce more investigations of wrongdoing by entrenched vested interests than does the entire recess-rich, Tuesday-to-Thursday U.S. Congress with all its Committees and Subcommittees. The Times should promptly publish some of its exposes as small books. Their on-the-ground series on the burning Amazon Forest and their series on expanding sports gambling corruption and addiction exemplify great reporting.

However, in the last decade, the Times has freaked out over the decline in print subscriptions, loss of advertisements and the rise of the Internet with its many aliterate users. Though a little l...

Biggest Contracts Expiring in 2023
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

By Dan DIMAGGIO

Negotiations will take place in 2023 for some of the biggest contracts in the labor movement, including at UPS and the Big Three automakers.

Workers are hoping to take advantage of a tight labor market to reverse years of concessions and win big raises to help cope with inflation. New leaders in the Teamsters, and potentially the Auto Workers (UAW), have promised to put up a more aggressive fight.

UPS

The Teamsters contract covering 340,000 package car drivers and warehouse workers at UPS expires July 31. New Teamsters President Sean Oโ€™Brien has promised the union will be ready for the first strike against the parcel giant since 1997.

Swedes adamant in face of Tรผrkiyeโ€™s NATO demands โ€“ poll
RT World News (RSS)

Almost 80% oppose changing the law to fast-track the process of joining the bloc, a DN/Ipsos survey has found

An overwhelming majority of Swedes believe their country should not betray its legal principles to meet Tรผrkiyeโ€™s conditions for ratifying Stockholmโ€™s NATO bid, according to a new Ipsos poll commissioned by Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter and released on Monday.

The survey found that 79% of respondents think their country should โ€œstand up for Swedish lawsโ€ in the face of Tรผrkiyeโ€™s demands. This red line, they said, should not be crossed even โ€œif that delays joining NATO.โ€

Only 10% said tha...

For Palestinians, 2022 Was a Year of Renewed Tragedy and New Hope
MintPress News (RSS)

Another critical year for Palestine has folded. While 2022 has wrought much of the same in terms of Israeli military occupation and increasing violence, it also introduced new variables to the Palestinian struggle โ€“ nationally, regionally and internationally.

Palestine, the War and the Arabs
The Russia-Ukraine war starting in February, pressured many political entities, including Palestinians, to take sides or, at least, to declare a position. Though the Palestinian Authority (PA) and various Palestinian political parties insisted on their neutrality, Russiaโ€™s deviation...
