Confusion Over US-South Korea Joint Nuclear Drill Claims

US President Joe Biden has denied that the Pentagon is in talks with Seoul about joint nuclear exercises, raising a number of questions after his South Korean counterpart announced that such discussions were already underway.

Asked whether he is โ€œdiscussing joint nuclear exercises with South Korea right now,โ€ Biden simply said โ€œNo,โ€ declining to elaborate further for reporters. The White House National Security Council later refused to comment when approached by Bloomberg.

Despite Bidenโ€™s curt denial, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol recently told a local newspaper that the two countries are โ€œdiscussing ways to operate the US nuclear forces under the concept of โ€œJoint Planning-Joint Exercises.โ€

US Capitol Police Hype Up Threat Of โ€˜Unthinkableโ€™

US Capitol Police have warned of future โ€œattacks,โ€ similar to the riot that erupted in the halls of Congress following the 2020 presidential election, adding that despite all precautionary measures new unrest is possible given the โ€œpolarized state of our nation.โ€

In a statement issued to mark the second anniversary of the January 6 riot, Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger said his department had been โ€œworking around the clockโ€ to implement scores of security improvements to the complex.

โ€œMake no mistake, there is still work to be done. The current threat climate, particularly against elected officials, will require continued and heightened vigilance,โ€ he said, adding: โ€œWith the polarized state of our nation, an attack like the one our Department endured on January 6, 2021, could be attempted again. Should the unthinkable happen, we...

From the Holy Mountain: A Journey in the Shadow of Byzantium

Theology should be kept as simple as Steinbeckโ€™s East of Eden classic, which gets a bunch of Chinese chaps to reinterpret the Cain and Abel fable.

The recent passing of 95 year old Pope Benedict XVI should give not only the Latin Catholic Church but churches worldwide cause for reflection and reform. Pope Benedict, a draftee into and a deserter from Hitlerโ€™s Wehrmacht, represented all that was best in European Catholicism, a faith that owes its survival to the armies of Spainโ€™s Philip II, who successfully withstood Ottoman threats to the east and Luth...

The Lebanese people are worried that sectarian violence may be increasing and the flames of civil war may be fanned by the Soldiers of God, and their ties to the warlords, militias, and parties who participated in the Lebanese civil war.

In Ashrafieh, the wealthy Christian neighborhood in east Beirut, there is a group of 300 young, muscular, and bearded men patrolling the streets from 6 pm. to 6 am. as part of Neighborhood Watch, but they have an extremist Christian ideology which many have termed...

African Nation Kicks Out French Ambassador

Burkina Faso has ordered the French ambassador to leave the country, local authorities confirmed. The move comes after November unrest during which protesters attempted to storm Franceโ€™s embassy while blaming Paris for its security problems.

Speaking to the AP News agency, government spokesman Jean-Emmanuel Ouedraogo said that French Ambassador Luc Hallade had been expelled, but did not provide any further details.

According to the sources of the French daily Le Monde, the foreign ministry of Burkina Faso, which has gone through two coups since January 2022, made the request to replace the French ambassador in a letter sent to Paris in late December.
