Zelensky Aide โMootsโ Lord Of The Rings Concept To Win Conflict
Ukraine could become a monarchy in a bid to defeat Russia, a senior aide to President Vladimir Zelensky has suggested, likening the situation in Kiev to JRR Tolkien's iconic trilogy โThe Lord of the Rings.โ
Alexey Arestovich referred in particular to the final installment of the masterpiece, โThe Return of the King.โ
โIf we are in the Lord of the Rings scriptโฆ a return of the king must happen, that is, Aragorn. Is Ukraine ready for a monarchy?โ he asked during an interview with Ukrainian musician Oleg Skripka on Sunday.
โAnd Iโll tell you, if you think rationally, the only way to kill everything that is coming at us from Moscow is to declare a monarchy,โ he added. However, Zelenskyโs aide did not clarify who might become the countryโs new sovereign.

UK Stops Russian Gas Imports
The UK has implemented a ban on imports of Russian liquified natural gas (LNG) that came into effect on January 1, 2023, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed on Sunday in a post on Twitter.
The British Foreign Office had announced plans to halt supplies of Russian LNG in late October. The measure is aimed at helping London to reduce its reliance on Russian energy.
On Saturday, the office said Britain was โsupporting countries around the world to reduce their own dependencyโ on Russian fossil fuels. It explained that the move had followed Moscowโs military operation in Ukraine, and was aimed at cutting the nationโs energy revenues.

IDF forces killed two Palestinians in an alleged confrontation when troops entered a Palestinian village in the occupied West Bank, AP citing local health officials.
The Israeli military says it entered the town of Kafr Dan to demolish two homes of suspected Palestinian gunmen when the confrontation escalated.
The two men were then shot and killed. Itโs the latest bloodshed in the region which has seen Israeli-Palestinian tensions rise for months.
