Immunologist Luke Oโ€™Neill is calling for primary school children to wear masks in the classroom in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Primary school students are not mandated to wear masks upon return to school this year with officials viewing it as too challenging for young children and a potential source of stress for pupils.

Currently, secondary school students must wear masks at school when indoors.

Prof Oโ€™Neill believes that if mask wearing in primary schools was even โ€œ30pc effectiveโ€ then it would have a โ€œsignificant impactโ€ on breaking the chains of transmission in the younger age groups.

Embarrassing this country is and this venue who was the first to post up to discriminate the people of Ireland.

Now they are part of a big problem trying to make it normal to be tested or to have a vaccine pass to go out and enjoy yourself.

A pilot nightclub event will take place next month in Temple Bar as part of Ireland's roadmap towards reopening.

An industry source has told the Irish Mirror that a pilot night is being planned for the Button Factory.

The Temple Bar venue will not be at full capacity however, as the industry begins to reopen for the first time in over a year and a half.

Instead of being limited to those who are vaccinated, attendees will have to take a PCR test both before and after the event, with the potential for details being taken to help with contact tracing.
