Chris de Burgh has hit out at decision-makers who have โ€œoverlooked and ignoredโ€ the music industry while large sporting events continue to get the green light.

The Lady in Red singer was speaking as he revealed he is the latest high profile figure to contract Covid-19 despite being fully-vaccinated.

De Burgh (72), who is recovering at home in Wicklow, said the uneven approach toward music and sport has left him dismayed.

โ€œThere are many thousands of talented and skilled professionals in this business whose abilities are being overlooked and ignored by the decision-makers who prefer to allow huge crowds into sporting events instead of concerts,โ€ he said.

No lives should be lost at all from the vaccines to many now.

Two people have died after receiving Moderna Covid-19 vaccine jabs that were among lots later suspended following the discovery of contaminants, Japan's health ministry has said.

The men, aged in their 30s, died this month within days of receiving their second Moderna doses, the ministry said in a statement. Each had a shot from one of three manufacturing lots suspended on Thursday. The causes of death are being investigated.

Japan halted the use of 1.63 million Moderna doses shipped to 863 vaccination centres nationwide, more than a week after the domestic distributor, Takeda Pharmaceutical Co, received reports of contaminants in some vials.

Weโ€™re now veering into a form of post-pandemic era denial. The rest of the world got the memo months ago and came out from hiding under the bed. The Brits โ€“ in their usual bombastic style โ€“ even made a celebration of it with their Freedom Day.

We still have the hair shirt on.

Smartphone developers are gearing up for a world where users can store their Covid vaccination proof in their phonesโ€™ digital wallets, making it easy to simply tap their phones when they enter new buildings.

The development, which concerns some privacy advocates, comes as the delta variant of the coronavirus surges through the U.S. and some cities plan to require people to prove theyโ€™ve been vaccinated to enter places like gyms, restaurants and bars.

Google, Apple and Samsung have all recently announced plans to offer a feature that readily calls up a QR code that can be scanned to quickly verify a userโ€™s vaccination status.

We are in 2021 extending it until 2023 and many believe the lies about lifting restrictions in September. They are saying what you want to hear so you do nothing.

Covid-19 testing services are to be extended at Dublin and Cork airports in the new year with the capability to test passengers and staff for other viruses if necessary, including the flu.

The measures are an indication of plans to manage the fallout of the pandemic into 2023.

Covid-19 testing was introduced at the airports last November for passengers and staff as the travel industry reopened . These plans were initially introduced on a short-term basis and are being expanded to ensure adequate testing is available beyond next year.

Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), which is responsible for the management and running of Dublin and Cork Airports, is seeking a service pro...
