Almost a quarter of Covid-19 intensive care admissions and daily case numbers are in fully vaccinated people, the HSE has revealed.
Hospitalisations among the double-jabbed are "overwhelmingly" in people with underlying conditions.
While the Covid-19 vaccine does not prevent infection with the disease, it significantly reduces the risk of serious illness and mortality.
A briefing on Thursday heard that around 20 to 23% of ICU admissions, and between 20 to 25% of daily case figures, are among those who are fully vaccinated.

"I am vaccinated and I got Covid and it's bad," she said. "It's weighing on my chest. It's hard to breathe. One of my kids, I think, has it so far. I'm praying that the other ones are okay."
