The HSE is concerned that some unvaccinated staff are bringing Covid-19 back into settings such hospitals and nursing homes, it emerged today.
The HSE said there were twelve new outbreaks in nursing homes , involving 121 people in the week ending August 14.
Another five outbreaks were reported in acute hospitals involving twelve people who tested positive.
Among the infected are fully vaccinated people but they are less likely to be sick with the virus.

Only one in 20 yoghurts aimed at children are low in sugar, researchers have said, as they urged the government to impose restrictions on kid-friendly packaging and the nutritional claims they make.
Action on Sugar, based at Queen Mary University of London, found Nestle Rolo Mix-in Toffee yoghurt had the highest level of sugar, with five and a half teaspoons per serve - the equivalent of 16 Malted Milk biscuits.

Experts had hoped two doses of vaccine would significantly reduce the viral load carried by people who became infected, lowering the risk of them passing on the disease.
Previous studies showed vaccinated people who contracted the Alpha variant had far lower viral loads than the unvaccinated.
However, new research by Oxford University shows the Delta variant wipes out the viral load reduction.
