BP Posts $8.2 Billion Q3 Profit

Oil giant BP has raked in a massive $8.2 billion profit between July and September this year - more than doubling its profit over the same period a year ago.

The company is set to shell out around $800 million in windfall tax this year, but will raise dividend payments by 10% and splash $2.5 billion buying back shares.

It is the fourth consecutive quarter of $4 billion+ profits for BP after a net loss across the six quarters up until the start of 2021.

All Ukraine’s Future Military Plans Leaked via Hack — Report

A hacker, going by the pseudonym “Joker,” has claimed to have hacked the entirety of Ukraine’s military operations plans, RIA Novosti reports.

The former Ukrainian national claims to have infiltrated Kiev’s US-made command center and transferred all pertinent information to “whom it may concern.”

The Donetsk-residing hacker also apparently showcased some of his findings to RIA, according to the outlet’s report.

Bahrain Shiite Opposition Urge Pope to Raise Human Rights During Visit

Majority Shiite opposition and activists have called on Pope Francis to raise the issue of human rights in the island nation during his official papal visit starting on Thursday.

They claim Shiites have been imprisoned, stripped of citizenship, deported, and the leading independent newspaper shut down by ruling Sunnis over the last decade, although a US commission report last year removed Bahrain from the State Department’s Special Watch List after assessing “ongoing improvements.”

The government told AP that the kingdom has a “zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination, persecution or the promotion of division based on ethnicity, culture or faith,” despite exiled activists accusing it of “tangible religious persecution.”

Saudi Aramco Q3 Net Income Leaps 39% to $42.4 Billion

Saudi Arabia’s state oil producer Aramco outperformed analysts’ expectations to post a whopping $42.4 billion net income for July-September this year, marking a 39% year-on-year rise.

The giant also revealed free cash flow of $45 billion, allowing it to deliver dividends of $18 billion to be paid next quarter - and it expects demand for oil to grow consistently over the next decade.

Royalties and taxes due to be paid out, however, totaled $24.3 billion - more than double last year’s third quarter.
