The number of new cases of West Nile fever in the country has doubled since last year

Twice as many people contracted the West Nile fever in Germany this year than in 2021, Der Spiegel reported on Tuesday, citing data provided by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the national health watchdog.

The number of infections registered in Germany since the end of August has risen to ten, according to RKI. At least eight of them were proven to have been contracted within Germany, the agencyโ€™s spokeswoman told Der Spiegel.

Anticipating a surge of migrants from Haiti, the US government is looking at doubling the capacity of a detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as one of the options, NBC News reported on Tuesday citing two officials and an internal document.

Petrobras Stocks Slide after Lulaโ€™s Win Announced

Brazilian state-owned oil giant Petrobras tumbled 4.86% during Monday trading on the back of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvaโ€™s apparent win over presidential election rival Jair Bolsonaro amidst fears he will clamp down on soaring profits for social needs.

Petrobras produces some 2.7 million barrels of oil per day, and had seen earnings blossom 34% to $1.66 per share with revenue exploding 65% to $32.8 billion in Q2.

Bolsonaro has suggested he intended to privatize Petrobras, while Lula reportedly plans to implement sweeping climate change legislation.
