Almost 100 Naked Refugees At Türkiye-Greece Border Leave UNHCR ‘Deeply Distressed’

The UN’s refugee agency has called for a full investigation after reports emerged of 92 migrants stripped completely naked at the Turkish border with Greece, as both countries blamed the other.

Greek police and EU border agency Frontex claimed the migrants had been pushed into Greek territory on dinghies across the Evros River with no food, supplies, or clothes, which Athens’ Minister for Migration and Asylum Notis Mitarachi called a “shame for civilization.”

Turkish Deputy Interior Minister Ismail Catakli refuted claims of Türkiye’s responsibility, rejecting Mitarachi’s calls for Ankara to launch an investigation and accusing Greece of “manipulation and dishonesty.”

Pakistan Riled By Biden’s Nuclear Claim

Pakistan has summoned the US ambassador after President Joe Biden questioned the country’s possession of nuclear weapons.

The foreign ministry as well as top current and former officials assured on Saturday that the state handles its arsenal in a responsible way.
Biden lashed out at Pakistan during a fundraiser event in Los Angeles, California on Thursday. As he described his relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he noted that the Chinese leader had much on his plate at the moment, including Pakistan.

“This is a guy who understands what he wants but has an enormous, enormous array of problems,” Biden said. “How do we handle that relative to what’s going on in Russia? And what I think is maybe one of the most dangerous nations in the world: Pakistan. Nuclear weapons without any cohesion,” Biden said.

Brittney Griner’s Release Not Kremlin Concern — Putin Aide

The possible release of US basketball star Brittney Griner is not a priority for the Kremlin while Joe Biden is more focused on the upcoming midterm elections, claimed Putin aide Yury Ushakov on Sunday.

“He keeps emphasizing the need to bring (Griner) back home … however, it’s not the main issue that we are concerned about,” Ushakov explained.

Last week Biden said he would only consider meeting Vladimir Putin face-to-face at the G20 summit in Indonesia if his Russian counterpart was ready to discuss Griner’s release.
