Oil Bump Amidst China Growth Hopes

Brent crude futures and West Texas Intermediate crude nudged up 0.88% and 0.84% to $92.44 and $86.33/barrel respectively early Monday after China’s central bank rolled over medium-term policy loans.

The move allowed it to keep interest rates unchanged for a second successive month, and followed Beijing’s pledge to boost native energy supply capacity and bolster commodity reserves.

President Xi Jinping’s comments about accommodative economic policies at Sunday’s Communist Party Congress added further reassurance, despite China facing its worst performing year in almost half a decade ahead of an expected trade & economic data release this week.

Germany settles nuclear plant issue
RT World News (RSS)

Chancellor Olaf Scholz has ordered the country’s remaining three nuclear plants to stay open until April

Germany’s last three nuclear power plants will stay open through April 2023, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced in a statement on Monday. He said he would ask the economy, environment and finance ministries to clear the way legally for extending the plants’ operational lives.

Scholz’s move to keep the Isar 2, Neckarwestheim 2, and Emsland reactors open overruled last week’s decision by Economy Minister Robert Habeck, which would have allowed two of the reactors to stay operational through April, while closing down the Emsland...

Nordstream Pipeline Sabotage: The Propaganda of Interpretation and (Mis)Representation
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

By Greg SIMONS

On 26 September 2022, a series of underwater explosions in Danish and Swedish territorial waters were registered on the Nordtream gas pipelines that ran under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany. What were initially characterised as being ‘gas leaks’ evolved into the less innocent term of ‘sabotage’. The allegations that an act of serious sabotage had been committed and someone needed to be held to account emerged very soon afterwards. Accusations were made immediately, starting with some...

A War Russia Set to Win

The Europeans have been nicely played by the Americans

MK BHADRAKUMAR

Two massive terrorist strikes misfired spectacularly and a terrible beauty is born in the Ukraine war. These two carefully planned attacks in quick succession — on Nord Stream gas pipelines and Crimean Bridge — were intended as a knockout blow to Russia. According to President Vladimir Putin, people ‘who want to finally sever ties between Russia and the EU, weaken Europe’ are behind the Nord Stream blasts. He named the US, Ukraine and Poland as ‘beneficiaries’.

India should expect the defeat of the US and NATO, which completes the transition to a multipolar world order.

Last Wednesday, Russia’s domestic intelligence service FSB identified Ukraine’...

A Jewish-born billionaire funding a Nazi regime in Ukraine to do his bidding is not beyond cynical calculation. It’s what capitalism is all about.

The NATO-backed Kiev regime is enacting new draconian laws that will banish all dissenting free speech. Any views not aligned with the regime are to be deemed treasonous and outlawed, even subject to persecution and violent repression.

The new legal powers enshrine a vicious campaign against independent media in Ukraine that has been raging over the past four years under President Vladimir Zelensky. Opposition political parties and news organizati...

Ethiopian Government & Rebels Urged To Find Immediate Ceasefire

African Union Commission Chairman Faki Mahamat has pleaded with Ethiopian authorities and rebel Tigray forces to end their fighting a month after AU-led peace talks failed to get off the ground.

Both sides had indicated a willingness to participate in the talks, which would pave the way for humanitarian aid to return to a region where up to 1 million people are “teetering on the edge of famine.”

Attacks in the Tigray town of Shire on Friday saw one aid worker killed. Rebel leaders have said they are ready for talks, but Addis Ababa is yet to comment on the possibility.

US scientists create new lethal Covid variant
RT World News (RSS)

The lab team behind the mutant variant was accused of “playing with fire”

Scientists at Boston University claim to have created a new variant of Covid-19 with an 80% mortality rate, by combining the highly-transmissible Omicron variant of the coronavirus with the original Wuhan strain. The research, which echoes experiments thought to have created the virus in the first place, has caused outrage.

In a research paper published last week, the scientists explained that they isolated the spike protein of the Omicron variant and combined it with the...
