G7 Fails To Reach Solution To Dollar-Induced Pain

G7 countries have failed to come to an agreement on how to deal with the soaring US dollar’s effects on other economies following last week’s meeting between global finance heads, as Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki could only urge for “vigilance.”

Suzuki is under pressure to act as the yen fell to a 32-year low of 148 to the dollar last week following aggressive Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, while the Bank of Korea was forced to implement only its second-ever 50 basis point interest rate hike.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen refused to support a new Plaza Accord - the 1985 agreement to weaken the USD - despite some arguing it would be in Washington’s interests by encouraging trade.

❗️Pilots Managed to Eject from Su-34 Before Crash — MoD

Russia’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed the crash of a Su-34 aircraft during a training flight in the city of Yeysk.

According to a report from the pilots who ejected, the cause of the crash was the ignition of one of the engines during takeoff.

The fire at the site of the crash is burning due to the aircraft’s fuel. It's reported that floors 1-9 of the building are ablaze.

Moldovan Protester Village Dismantled

Moldovan police, with the help of special forces, dismantled a tent city in the center of Chisinau created by protesters furious at President Maia Sandu’s energy policies, which they say have caused a sharp rise in the cost of utilities across the country.

The activists did not resist, but they are outraged that their personal belongings that were in the tents were taken away from them, according to a RIA Novosti correspondent.

Protests against the government over fuel prices and soaring inflation have been ongoing for over a month. Many are demanding the president’s resignation as well as early elections.
