Russia Deploys New Military Satellite

A classified military satellite, designated Kosmos-2560, was launched from the Plesetsk Military Cosmodrome in Russia’s northern Arkhangelsk Region on Saturday evening at 10:55pm Moscow time (7:55 GMT). 

Launched on the smallest carrier rocket of the Angara family, the spacecraft “successfully reached orbit” soon after, establishing a radio link with the mission control center and reporting all systems functioning after deployment, the Defense Ministry said in a brief statement.

“Combat crews of the Space Force of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a successful launch of the Angara-1.2 light-class launch vehicle with a spacecraft for the Russian Defense Ministry from the State Test Cosmodrome Plesetsk,” the ministry said.

Indian Nuclear Submarine Test-Fires Missile

The Indian Navy has carried out a successful test of a Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM), fired by INS Arihant, the country’s first domestically built nuclear-powered sub.

The missile “impacted the target area in the Bay of Bengal with very high accuracy,” according to the Defense Ministry’s statement. The military officials did not provide details about the type of missile, but said that “all operational and technological parameters of the weapon system have been validated.”

US Senators Propose Punishment For Major Ally

US weapons should be withdrawn from Saudi Arabia as punishment for oil output cuts, announced last week by the de-facto leader of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Democratic lawmakers have said.

Elon Musk has expressed concern over a controversial website that lists the supposed enemies of Ukraine, amid claims that his own name briefly appeared on the site, Mirotvorets, following his threat to cut funding for Starlink satellite internet services, which are actively used by Ukrainian troops.

“Is this list real? What’s the URL?” the SpaceX CEO tweeted in response to independent journalist Eva Bartlett, who shared a viral screenshot on Friday that claims to show his name added to the notorious database.

“I’ve been speaking and writing about this list for years, after being placed on it in 2019, but now that Musk is on it, after Roger Waters and others, perhaps the ‘peacemaker’ list might itself be killed,” Bartlett wrote.
