Bulgarian VP Opposes Plan For Zelensky To Address Parliament

Iliana Iotova has voiced her opposition to plans for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to address MPs at the opening session of the countryโ€™s recently-elected parliament. Such a move would be a part of a political game that would only disrupt the normal work of the legislature, she told journalists on Saturday.

Iotova said she considered it โ€œunacceptableโ€ for Zelensky to address Bulgarian parliamentarians at a time when his own country is going through โ€œits hardest moments.โ€ She also said the whole idea of such an address was nothing but part of an internal political struggle in Bulgaria.

โ€œAs a citizen, I felt certain bidding, playing with political topics more typical for an election campaign,โ€ she said, adding that the parties in the parliament were apparently more focused on the next elections than forming a new...

โ€œCombat crews of the Space Force of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a successful launch of the Angara-1.2 light-class launch vehicle with a spacecraft for the Russian Defense Ministry from the State Test Cosmodrome Plesetsk,โ€ the ministry said.

Attempts to influence the country from abroad will fail, the Foreign Ministry says

The US will fail in its attempts to incite unrest and meddle in Iranโ€™s domestic affairs, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has said. His statement comes after US President Joe Biden backed the anti-government protests across the Islamic Republic.

Protests and clashes with police erupted last month after a 22-year-old woman named Mahsa Amini died in custody after being detained by Iranโ€™s morality police in Tehran for wearing an โ€œinappropriateโ€ headscarf. Her family claimed that she had been tortured.

Kanaani accused Biden on Saturday of...
