Central Bank of G20 Host Rallies Against US Dollar โ€” Media

Indonesiaโ€™s central bank has spoken out against the use of the US dollar in export-import transactions, and called for a switch to local currencies in international payments to reduce dependence on the greenback, news portal Tempo.co reported.

Most of Indonesiaโ€™s international trade transactions are conducted in foreign currencies, predominantly the dollar, according to Nugroho Joko Prastowo, head of Bank Indonesiaโ€™s Solo Representative Office, as cited by local media.

โ€œ90% of export-import settlements are in US dollars, when in fact the value of Indonesia's direct exports to the US is only 10%, and the value of US imports is only 5%,โ€ the official told journalists.

TV Channel Explains Purchase of Hitlerโ€™s Paintings

A controversial UK TV show will offer its audience a chance to destroy Adolf Hitlerโ€™s paintings, as well as artworks by other โ€œmorally despicable artists,โ€ Channel 4 confirmed.

The statement, quoted by the Evening Standard, comes amid public outrage over alleged โ€œtrivialization of the horrors of Nazismโ€ by the programโ€™s creators.
According to a Channel 4 spokesperson, the โ€œJimmy Carr Destroys Artโ€ televised debate will represent โ€œa thoughtful and nuanced exploration of the limits of free expression in artโ€ as it will allow the public in a studio to decide on the fate of several pieces.

Channel 4 earlier revealed that it had also acquired a vase by Pablo Picasso, along with artwork by convicted pedophile Rolf Harris and sexual abuser Eric Gill.

RT World News (RSS)

After being blasted for not condemning Moscow, Beijingโ€™s envoy reportedly urged the West to look at โ€œthe root causeโ€ of the crisis

A senior NATO official clashed with a Chinese envoy over Beijingโ€™s reluctance to follow the lead of Western countries and denounce Russia over the Ukraine conflict, Bloomberg reported on Saturday.

Speaking at the annual Arctic Circle Assembly, Admiral Rob Bauer, the chair of NATOโ€™s Military Committee, reportedly accused China of โ€œundermining the rules-based international order,โ€ adding that Beijing does not share the Westโ€™s values.

He Rulong, Chinaโ€™s ambassador to Iceland, challenged Bauer. โ€œView original post

Spain Illegally Removed Border-Riot Migrants โ€” Report

Spainโ€™s civil rights ombudsman has concluded that guards improperly rejected nearly 500 migrants at its border with Morocco during a violent riot in June.

Around 2,000 migrants stormed a border fence separating Morocco from the Spanish exclave of Melilla on June 24.

While many succeeded in entering Spanish territory, Moroccan authorities said at least 23 were killed, and human rights groups accused Spanish border guards of violently removing hundreds.
The ombudsman's report sided with these groups and chastised the Spanish border police. โ€œThe institution concludes that 470 persons were turned back at the border without taking into account national and international legal provisions,โ€ the report read.
