Christine Lambrecht promises modern air-defenses, but no tanks for Kiev

Germany’s Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht made a surprise visit to the Black Sea port city of Odessa on Saturday, vowing to provide more military aid to Ukraine in the coming days, including the long-promised Iris-T SLM ground-based air defense system.

China Calls Nord Stream Situation ‘Tragic Calamity’

The situation regarding Russia’s Nord Stream pipelines is tragic and may worsen the global energy crisis, China’s deputy permanent representative to the UN, Geng Shuang, said.

“The Nord Stream pipeline is the main artery for energy transportation in Europe, providing vital gas supplies to 23 European countries,” the official said at the UN Security Council.

“A physical disruption of the pipeline, as a result of the leaks, has exacerbated the energy supply shortages in Europe.”

‘Not Wise’ To Include Ukraine Into NATO – Kissinger

Washington’s attempts to incorporate Ukraine into NATO after the collapse of the Soviet Union were not prudent, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said.

Speaking to the Council on Foreign Relations, a non-partisan US think tank, the 99-year-old veteran diplomat argued that Washington tried to indiscriminately include all former members of the Soviet bloc under its umbrella after the Berlin wall fell, and that the “whole region between the center of Europe and Russian border became open to restructure.”

“From the Russian point of view, the United States then attempted to integrate this whole region, without exception, into an American-led strategic system,” he said, adding that this development basically removed Russia’s historic “safety belt.”

Russia plans to supply electricity for mining in Kazakhstan

Russia has begun preparations for supplying energy to Kazakhstan for crypto mining.

The countries agreed to amend the existing agreement between Russia and Kazakhstan on the parallel operation of energy systems. The changes suggest Russia will be able to sell electricity to Kazakh mining businesses.

Earlier in January, Kazakhstan experienced power outages across the country, causing about 200 mining firms to be temporarily off power.

Dogs Can Smell Stress - Study

We all know dogs are brilliant at sniffing things out (especially your dinner), but new research has revealed that this talent could stretch to detecting when humans are stressed.

A team at Queen’s University Belfast collected samples of sweat and breath from 36 people before and after they undertook a difficult math problem, during which their stress levels increased. The four dogs involved in the study – Treo, Fingal, Soot and Winnie – all successfully identified the ‘stressed’ specimens from the humans.

This, says the team, “highlights that dogs do not need visual or audio cues to pick up on human stress,” and could be useful when training service and therapy dogs.

Good boys just got even better.

RT Has Some Good Points - Elon Musk

The SpaceX and Tesla tycoon wrote in March that RT and other Russian news sources were “entertaining” and made “some good points,” according to court documents.

Musk refused to block these sites’ IP addresses from his Starlink internet service, despite pressure from “some governments.”

In a text message conversation with investor Antonio Gracias dated March 5, Musk revealed that he had “been told” to block the IP addresses of RT and “several other Russian news sources” from being accessed via his Starlink satellite internet service.

“Actually I find their news quite entertaining,” Musk confided in Gracias.
