US Senate Avoids Government Shutdown, Approves Further Ukraine Aid
The United States Senate passed a short-term spending bill that would prevent a partial government shutdown when the current fiscal year ends at midnight Friday.
The bill also included about $12.3 billion in aid for Ukraine.
US legislators are now expected to adopt a larger government spending package after the midterm election in November, which is largely expected to shift political winds to one of the major parties’ direction.

Subsidies would have to be disclosed under the bill if a company has received money from a country Washington deems a strategic or economic risk - and allow states to choose where to file federal antitrust cases.
