Putin ะกalls to Kiev to Return to Negotiations

Moscow is ready for talks with Kiev, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday at a ceremony for the signing of treaties on the inclusion of the Lugansk and Donetsk Peopleโ€™s Republics, as well as the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye, which declared independence from Ukraine, into Russia.

โ€œWe call on the Kiev regime to cease all hostilities, stop the war it started back in 2014 and return to the negotiating table,โ€ he said, adding, however, that Moscow will not โ€œbetrayโ€ the territories that want to become a part of Russia.

Hurricane Ian Regains Strength, Heads for Carolinas after Hitting Florida

After ravaging Florida, a strengthened Hurricane Ian is set to enter South and North Carolina where National Guard troops have been deployed in anticipation. 

The National Hurricane Centerโ€™s update forecast a โ€œlife-threatening storm surgeโ€ including a storm surge of up to 7 feet (2.1m) into coastal areas of the Carolinas, and rainfall of up to 8 inches (20cm).

In Florida, the calamity caused massive damage to buildings, vehicles and even swept local civilian boats ashore. At least 19 people are reported to have died due to Ian's rampage through the Caribbean and the US.

23 Dead after Kabul Suicide Bomb Blast

At least 23 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack at an education center in a Shi'ite minority area of Kabul Friday, and 36 more were injured, reports CNN.

Most of the victims are believed to be young women, with students taking university entrance exams apparently targeted.
