EU mobile coverage may go down this winter โ€“ Reuters
RT World News (RSS)

The networks donโ€™t have sufficient resilience to deal with possible blackouts, telecom officials told the news agency

Possible blackouts in the EU during the winter may leave people without a stable mobile connection because the existing backup power reserves are not sufficient, Reuters reported on Thursday, citing a warning it received from four telecom officials.

Telecoms could take measures like optimizing traffic flow or upgrading equipment to more power-efficient variants, but they would likely need government intervention to prevent mobile phone outages, the news agency said....

The blocโ€™s forces may enter the country if Russia resorts to the nuclear option, Warsaw says

NATO may send troops into Ukraine if Russia deploys nuclear weapons in that country, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau told local media on Thursday. The US-led military bloc has repeatedly maintained itโ€™s not at war with Moscow and is not a party to the conflict.

Speaking to RMF FM Radio, Rau was asked how the organization would respond if Russia resorts to the nuclear option. According to the minister, the West would firmly โ€“ and in coordination with the US โ€“ respond to such an attack.

Should the worst happen, Rau said, NA...

Nord Stream ruptures likely caused by sabotage โ€“ NATO
RT World News (RSS)

The US-led military bloc has decried โ€œcoercive use of energyโ€ after the Russian-German pipeline was damaged

Damage caused to gas pipelines linking Russia directly to Germany was most likely caused by โ€œdeliberate, reckless, and irresponsible acts of sabotage,โ€ NATO said on Thursday.

The organization warned in a statement that leaks in the Nord Stream fuel connectors pose โ€œrisks to shipping and substantial environmental damage,โ€ and called for a full investigation.

The military bloc said it was ready to act against โ€œcoercive use of energy and other hybrid tactics by state and non-state actors,โ€ pledging a...

Nicholas Burns says Beijing should โ€œmove forwardโ€ after escalation over Taiwan last month

China should restore cooperation with Washington on crucial issues, such as on climate change and healthcare which was severed in early August following House Speaker Nancy Pelosiโ€™s trip to Taipei, US Ambassador to Beijing Nicholas Burns has said.

โ€œOur message to the Chinese is โ€˜letโ€™s talk, open these dialogues and letโ€™s move forward,โ€™โ€ Burns told his audience at the Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore on Thursday, as quoted by Bloomberg.

China severed communication with Washington in a number of military and civilian areas in retaliation for Pelosiโ€™s trip to...

Nord Stream incident a โ€˜terrorist actโ€™ โ€“ Kremlin
RT World News (RSS)

Such an incident is unlikely to have happened without the involvement of a state power, spokesman Dmitry Peskov says

The damage inflicted on the Russian Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines points to a probable โ€˜terrorist act,โ€™ Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

He told journalists it is currently difficult to say with absolute certainty what happened to the pipelines, but โ€œthe scale of destruction indicates that it really was a sort of a [terrorist] act.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s very hard to imagine that such a terrorist act could have happened without the involvement of some state power,โ€ he said.

The spokesman was also...

Norway deploys troops after suspected pipeline sabotage
RT World News (RSS)

Oslo says the damage to the Nord Stream infrastructure looks โ€œdeliberateโ€

The military has been deployed to protect Norwegian energy facilities in the wake of the suspected sabotage attack on Russiaโ€™s Nord Stream 1 and 2 undersea gas pipelines, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere has said.

โ€œMilitary forces will be more present and visible near our oil and gas installations,โ€ Stoere told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

โ€œThe information we have received today further strengthens assumptions that the damage [to the pipelines] is a deliberate act. It has created a very serious situation.โ€

The prime minist...

Sweden Discovers Fourth Nord Stream Leak

The Swedish coast guard has said itโ€™s discovered a fourth Nord Stream gas pipeline leak, following major damage to the key infrastructure earlier this week in an alleged act of sabotage.

Swedish coast guard spokesperson Jenny Larsson told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper that there were not three but four leaks in the undersea infrastructure, two in Swedenโ€™s exclusive economic zone and two in the Danish exclusive zone.

Initially, Danish authorities discovered leaks on the pipelines, built to deliver Russian natural gas to the EU, on Monday after the operator reported a loss of pressure on both Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2.

The Nablus Riots and the Future of the Palestanian Authority
MintPress News (RSS)

The arrest of a prominent Palestinian activist, Musab Shtayyeh, and another Palestinian activist, by Palestinian Authority police on September 20 was not the first time that the notorious PAโ€™s Preventive Security Service (PSS) has arrested a Palestinian who is wanted by Israel.

PSS is largely linked to the routine arrests and torture of anti-Israeli occupation activists. Several Palestinians have died in the past as a result of PSS violence, the latest being Nizar Banat who was tortured to death on June 24, 2021. The killing of Banat ignited a popular revolt against the PA throughout Palest...

India Legalizes Universal Abortion Rights After Top Court Ruling

India's Supreme Court on Thursday upheld womenโ€™s rights to have an abortion up to 24 weeks into pregnancy regardless of marital status.

"The decision to have or not to have an abortion is borne out of complicated life circumstances, which only the woman can choose on her own terms without external interference or influence," the ruling said.

The decision came in response to a petition by a woman who said that her pregnancy resulted from a relationship, but she had sought abortion when said relationship failed.
