Cuba Knocked Completely Offline by Hurricane Ian Devastation
The entire decades-old electrical grid collapsed throughout Cuba on Tuesday in the wake of Hurricane Ianโs powerful 120mph (195kmph) maximum winds.
Authorities had already cut power to Pinar del Rio provinceโs 850,000 citizens as a precaution before Ian made landfall early Tuesday and evacuated 40,000 people from danger, but two people were still killed by the category 3 storm.
Ian is now expected to intensify as it bears down on Floridaโs Tampa area Wednesday and Thursday with 130mph (209kmph) maximum gusts and up to 60cm of rain.

Fighter Jet Escort for Bomb Hoax Singapore Airlines Flight
Two Singapore Air Force fighter jets were scrambled to escort a Singapore Airlines flight arriving at Changi Airport from San Francisco after a passenger made a hoax bomb threat on Wednesday.
Teams from the armyโs chemical, biological, radiological and explosives defense group were mobilized after a 37-year-old passenger claimed a bomb was in his carry-on.
The suspect was restrained onboard before being handed over to police, having allegedly assaulted the crew on the 16-hour flight.
