Flesh-eating Animal Tranquilizer Linked to Heroin, Fentanyl ODs

Thousands of nationwide heroin and fentanyl overdoses have now been linked to powerful, flesh-eating animal tranquilizer xylazine after being found in 91% of Philadelphiaโ€™s supplies of the street drugs.

It was found in 19% of all drug overdoses in Maryland last year, while deaths from it shot up over 86% between 2019 and 2020 in Michigan.

โ€œTranqโ€, as xylazine is also known, was detected in half the opioid deaths recorded in the Ann Arbor area over the last two years, and is known to cause soft-tissue infections, bone disease, and lead to open sores.

Brawling womenโ€™s basketball players interrupt interview

Two members of Mali's national women's basketball team were recorded fighting one another following a defeat to Serbia at the FIBA Women's World Cup.

Recovering from their own loss to hosts Australia, Serbia fired back with a 81-68 win which prevented the winless West Africans from being able to qualify for the quarterfinals.

As Serbian top scorer Sasa Cado gave a post-match interview to national media outlet Sport Klub afterwards, one of her answers was interrupted by loud noises coming from another part of the mixed zone.

This is what happened.

Japan Mourns Slain PM Shinzo Abe With Divisive $11.5 Million State Funeral

A 19-gun salute, flowers left by 10,000 people and $11.5 million of taxpayersโ€™ money were only a few elements of late Japanese PM Shinzo Abeโ€™s state funeral - the countryโ€™s first in 55 years - that divided opinion on Tuesday.

US Vice President Kamala Harris and Indian President Narendra Modi were among the 4,300 mourners at the funeral service itself, with 20,000 police officers deployed on the streets.

A recent TV Asahi poll found only 34% of Japanese citizens supported a state funeral for the leader due to his poor economic performance and links to a controversial unification Church. Protesters hit the streets to demonstrate against it.
