Russia tells US to โ€˜back offโ€™ its โ€˜aggressiveโ€™ course

The US is taking an increasingly aggressive stance towards Moscow, but no amount of economic sanctions and political pressure can sway it from defending its national interests, a top Russian diplomat said.

Moscowโ€™s diplomacy regarding the US is an exercise in โ€œcrisis managementโ€, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in an interview on Russian television on Monday. He described US behavior as being โ€œincreasingly confrontational and worrisome.โ€

โ€œWe can see how [the Americans] are trying to mobilize their satellites, their vassals to confront Russia in a more aggressive and hardline manner,โ€ the diplomat said.

Japan Mourns Slain PM Shinzo Abe With Divisive $11.5 Million State Funeral

A 19-gun salute, flowers left by 10,000 people and $11.5 million of taxpayersโ€™ money were only a few elements of late Japanese PM Shinzo Abeโ€™s state funeral - the countryโ€™s first in 55 years - that divided opinion on Tuesday.

US Vice President Kamala Harris and Indian President Narendra Modi were among the 4,300 mourners at the funeral service itself, with 20,000 police officers deployed on the streets.

A recent TV Asahi poll found only 34% of Japanese citizens supported a state funeral for the leader due to his poor economic performance and links to a controversial unification Church. Protesters hit the streets to demonstrate against it.
