Muskโ€™s Starlink Active in Iran - But Faces Problems

After announcing his intention to activate the Starlink satellite network to restore internet to Iran following Tehranโ€™s move to cut off connectivity amidst protests, Elon Muskโ€™s web service is reportedly now active - but requires terminals on the ground.

Global think tank professor Karim Sadjapour tweeted Sunday he had received confirmation from Musk of Starlinkโ€™s activation, but he believes it will cost โ€œmany millionsโ€ of dollars to set up and sustain the web service, and doesnโ€™t expect the government to green-light the import of terminals.

Iran has seen days of protests after the alleged killing of a women in morality police custody. Authorities deny those accusations.

The Return of Fascism

As in the 1930s, a bankrupt liberalism, grotesque social inequality and declining living standards are empowering fascist movements in Europe and the U.S.

By Chris HEDGES

ะ•nergy and food bills are soaring. Under the onslaught of inflation and prolonged wage stagnation, wages are in free fall. Billions of dollars are diverted by Western nations at a time of economic crisis and staggering income inequality to fund a proxy war in Ukraine. The liberal class, terrified by the rise of neo-fascism and demagogues such as Donald Trump, have thrown in their lot with discredited and reviled establishment politicians who slavishly do the bidding of the war industry, oligarchs and corporations.

The bankruptcy of the liberal class means...

A US president accusing Russia of violating the UN Charterโ€™s like Trump accusing Biden of watching porn

By Dave LINDORFF

President Bidenโ€™s condemnation of Russia at the UN on Wednesday, where he claimed Russia had violated the UN Charter by invading Ukraine, a country he ludicrously posed โ€œno threatโ€ to its larger neighbor, is epic hypocrisy coming from the leader of a country that not long ago invaded and destroyed Iraq based on a total fraudulent claim asserting that country was developing or even already had weapons of mass destruction.

It is illegal under the UN Ch...

Unpacking the Ukraine โ€˜Game Changeโ€™; Is a Major Conflict Inevitable?
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

Any political solution โ€“ however theoretical, at this point โ€“ would involve Moscow sitting with the collective West. Kiev had become a bystander.

Russia is preparing for an escalation in this war. She is augmenting her forces to the minimum level that could deal with a major NATO offensive. This decision was not precipitated by a significant attrition in the existing force. The facts are clear: The militias of Donetsk and Luhansk represent the majority of the Russian allied forces fighting in the Donbas. The militias have been reinforced by contract soldiers from the Wagner Group and Chechen fighters howev...

Wearing Headscarves in Tehran
Strategic Culture Foundation (RSS)

Perhaps the timing of these protests, coinciding with Iran supplying drones to Russia, is just a massive coincidence, just like taking out Imran Khan after his Pakistani government did a petrol deal with the Russians.

Global protests against Iranian ordinances that women must wear head scarves in public can be traced back to the usual suspects of the CIA, the Brookings Institute and their employees, who have been hell bent on causing mayhem in Iran since the 1979 fall of their puppet Shah when the CIA and...

Howโ€™s Yemenโ€™s Cold War-era revolution set the stage for todayโ€™s devastating Western-backed war
RT World News (RSS)

Exactly 60 years ago, a conflict erupted in Yemen that became bloody and protracted

September 26, 1962 is not only one of the most important dates in the history of Yemen, but also of modern Middle Eastern affairs, representing the beginning of what was a civil war to some and an international proxy conflict to others.

With the massive death and destruction wrought on Yemen today, this little-discussed period of Cold War history can tell us a lot about the contemporary Middle East.

Setup of a bloody conflict
Today, Yemen is primarily known as home to the worldโ€™s worst humanitarian...
